71% of Americans are overweight. If weight loss were simple, that number would not be so high. We won’t lose weight for good on another “food plan” or diet.” We have to learn how to manage our mind. This is where Awareness comes in. What are you thinking, what are your diet beliefs, what is keeping you stuck? We have to learn to be able to have these thoughts and feel the feelings without taking negative action. And if we take that negative action, we just need to ask ourselves one simple question. Why? And also being aware of how food feels in our body, aware of when we are hungry, aware of when we are full.

The second pillar is Planning. Planning is really just a brain hack because you are coming into awareness. I have this brain hack I use and teach in Transform that I call the Realistic Plan. It is just a way to keep commitments to ourselves. No counting points, calories, fat grams, none of that. Just realistically what you are eating. Just making a decision ahead of time and no beating yourself up if you eat off plan, just ask yourself why and move on, take the next best action. It is so simple!
