Dec 31, 2024

Are you a perfectionist?

Do you think you aren’t a perfectionist because you have failed at weight loss?

We all have this idea about what is perfect. It’s subjective.

We hold ourselves to these very high standards in our minds.

This is the mental weight of weight loss.

We put time pressures and health pressures on ourselves.

We worry about failing and about the shame and judgment that accompany it.

When this happens, we just stop. We become paralyzed.

In today’s episode, I teach you some language around perfectionism and how to overcome diet perfectionism.

In this episode…

[3:16] I’m not perfect because I failed.

[3:47] Perfection just lives in our minds.

Ep. #223: Your Inner Rebel & Freedom

Dec 31, 2024

Have you ever wondered why you aren’t doing the best things for yourself?

All humans have an inner rebel. Your inner rebel can work against your goals and dreams and the best things for yourself.

Your inner rebel is the part of your brain that resists rules, restriction, and external control.

It’s the part of your brain that wants to be in control.

When you start to think that you’re not in control or you feel restricted, your inner rebel can take over.

In today’s episode, I am going to teach you how to make peace with your inner rebel so that you can have real freedom in your mind and body.

In this episode…

[1:16] What is your inner rebel?

[3:01] Your inner rebel shows up in weight loss through the feeling of deprivation.

[3:49] All of us as humans want and crave freedom.

[4:18] It’s the thinking around deprivation that brings on the inner rebel.

[6:02] You have tied certain foods to “diet” foods.

Ep. #222: Diet Trends

Dec 31, 2024

I struggled with my weight pretty much my entire life. I started to notice that I was different around eight years old. Other people noticed too and had things to say about it. That led to years of dieting and feeling like my body wasn’t good enough. When you carry extra weight, everyone can see your struggle and you can’t hide from it. It created a level of shame within me.

Shame makes you feel like you’re broken.

You are not broken.

There is a way to start to have more love for yourself and to start to heal your relationship with food.

In today’s episode, I want to share a personal story and give you my take on all the things out there weight loss and diet culture related.

In this episode…

[1:46] My personal struggle with weight.

[2:57] I believe every human struggles with some sort of buffering.

Ep. #221: What Does It Mean to Love Myself

Dec 31, 2024

Many of us have a difficult time finding love for ourselves.

Our brain consistently focuses on what is not good and what we are not doing right. Many of us have a lot of self-loathing and it decreases our capacity to love ourselves and to love others.

The outside world says we are to be humble and have humility, so we have internalized those messages to make it mean we cannot celebrate ourselves.

At its core, self-love is a deep and unconditional acceptance of who you are, embracing both strengths and weaknesses.

It involves nurturing a positive relationship with yourself, acknowledging your worth, and treating yourself with the same kindness and compassion that you would offer a cherished friend.

It means celebrating your achievements, learning from your mistakes, and understanding that you are worthy of love and happiness just as you are.

You are enough today and the number on the scale doesn’t change any of that.

In today’s episode, I give you my take on how to find...

Ep. #220: No Need for Motivation

Dec 31, 2024

Do you ever think I just need more motivation or willpower?

Motivation is a feeling. It lasts about 90 seconds. It is influenced by external factors such as immediate rewards or the intensity of a specific goal, which can quickly diminish or change. If you keep relying on the need for motivation, you will stay the same. You will stay stuck.

I believe that we have used motivation more as an excuse. It’s our primitive brain wanting us to stay the same, to stay comfortable.

Commitment is another emotion. While motivation may fluctuate, commitment involves a steadfast dedication to a goal or course of action. It’s usually attached to why you want to do something and the purpose of it.

Visualizing your why attached to your commitment is one of the most powerful tools you can use toward your success.

In today’s episode, I give you my take on motivation and how it keeps you stuck on the diet roller coaster. You can decide in this moment to change your story.

Ep. #219: Overcoming the Negotiation with Food

Dec 31, 2024

Have you ever felt food noise in your head “I want this, I need to have this, I have the urge to eat this” is constant.

It can be overwhelming, and you just want it to stop. Maybe you tell yourself that you are going to do everything right today, but halfway through the day, you start thinking thoughts or having the urge to eat something you didn’t want to eat.

Maybe you’ve done this cycle like me. I had done this cycle for so long that I was sick of it and I just wanted the food noise to quiet.

I didn’t want to have the feeling of being hungrier or the urge to eat or think about food.

It was a constant negotiation in my head.

The constant record of noise and negotiation is a way that we sell ourselves on something that our best self doesn’t want.

Diet culture gives us extreme measures and it just keeps us suffering.

In today’s episode, I give you my take on how to stop the negotiations, take control, and do the things that your best self...

Ep. #218: But I Just Love Food

Dec 31, 2024

Do you love food?

Maybe you love sweets or maybe it’s McDonald’s fries.

Food is an important part of our lives.

We celebrate our traditions with food.

For some of us, years of dieting, binging, and restricting led us to believe that we couldn’t control ourselves around food.

When I was on the diet roller coaster, I never really enjoyed the food. I never really tasted it or savored it.

Food is not love. Food does not love you back. It’s a substance that has nutrients and water in it to help us live and survive.

Food has probably caused you a lot of pain.

This work is about understanding your relationship with food so that you can start to heal it and start to change it.

Through this work, I’ve learned to pay attention to my hunger and fullness.

It no longer provides an emotional need for me.

I live in abundance with food. I don’t restrict. I don’t tell myself I can’t have food.

In today’s episode, I want to help you lose the...

Ep. #217: I Just Keep Telling the Same Old Story

Dec 31, 2024

Do you find yourself telling the same old story?

If so, this episode is for you.

Telling yourself the same old story is like replaying a familiar tune on a broken record, stuck in a loop of repetitive narratives.

You can be having success, but then something comes up, and the old story comes back into your mind.

Your story became a safety mechanism.

There’s a certain allure to the familiar because your brain likes to keep you comfortable.

While your story has been relevant at some point, clinging to it can hinder your progress.

Coming into awareness and wanting to change is powerful.

To change, you have to get uncomfortable.

You have to do something different.

I’m going to give you my take on how to change your story.

In this episode…

[1:40] I had this story that I played over for a long time.

[2:39] I had a belief that was connected to the story.

[3:51] It comes from a belief for me that ultimately, I’m going to struggle.

[4:45] How the same old...

Ep. #216 – Is Snacking and Grazing Hurting Your Weight Loss?

Dec 31, 2024

Are you a snacker or a grazer? Some people are and some are not.

Before I lost my weight, I had a fear of being hungry.

I would always make sure that I had snacks available.

In today’s episode, I talk about snacking and how it might be showing up for you and I give you my take on what to do about it.

In this episode…

[4:28] Emotional eating is eating outside of physical hunger because you are trying to satisfy some emotional need.

[5:04] If you’re not getting enough water or sleep, your body could be sending you signals because it wants sleep or hydration.

[6:45] Before this work, I was afraid to feel hungry.

[8:22] If I took everything that I had eaten and put it on a plate, it would be a full meal.

[9:02] My take on what to do.
